LOA online session ''Human rights in sports''
November 17th was International Students' day. Lithuanian Olympic Academy held an online session "Human rights in sports" for students at KU, LSU, ŠU, VMU, VU, Vilnius University of Applied Sciences, Šiauliai state college and individuals from IOA Young Participants Session.
Moderator for the session was prof. A. Šarkauskienė from Klaipėda University who congratulated the participants and presented International, Lithuanian and European Olympic academies and their work.
Marija Serbintaitė, a blogger at pedagogas.lt and fema.lt, talked about stereotypes in sports and analyzed why women's sports aren't as popular as men's in her presentation "Gender stereotypes in sports".
Administrator of LOA Karolis Būdava and LSU student Kornelija Obolevičiūtė presented "E-sports - future of physical activity" where they discussed e-sports: explaining the sports, it's training and competitions, why it's getting more and more popular and the future of it. Also the advantages and disadvantages of the sport.
LSU student Paulius Martinkėnas, ambassador of European Youth Olympic Festival, shared his impressions of International Olympic Academy Young Participants Session 2020, which was unfortunately not in Greece and was held remotely this year. Discussions took place in three groups, moderated by IOA Young Participants Session participants: Paulius Martinkėnas (2020), K. Būdava (2019) ir Ernestas Vaitkevičius (2017). After the presentations of discussion groups, the session was summarized by LOA program manager for Olympic education Ramūnė Motiejūnaitė and prof. A. Šarkauskienė.
