Online seminar for coaches "21st Century Coach - Difficulties and Challenges"
On April 15, The Lithuanian Olympic Academy, together with one of its social partners - Vytautas Magnus University, organized an online seminar for coaches “21st Century Coach - Difficulties and Challenges. Constructing Training Scenarios: Status Quo and Future Perspectives ”. 130 coaches, teachers and students from all over Lithuania participated in the event.
The seminar was designed to look at the training of athletes as an ever-changing, cohesive dynamic system that operates integrally in an ever-changing social environment. The speakers therefore focused on how to model athlete training technologies, improving the quality and effectiveness of training to achieve the set goals.
During the seminar, topics relevant to modern sports were discussed, based on practical and theoretical perspectives. Speakers discussed with the audience what is most important in a coach’s job and how to keep up with changing living conditions. The speakers gave four presentations during the seminar:
1. “Unpredictability in a competitive environment and synergy of educational practice” (Dr. S. Sabaliauskas, Vilnius University and Vytautas Magnus University).
2. “Physical literacy in the perspective of the athletic career” (Assoc. Prof. Dr. D. Gražulis, Vytautas Magnus University).
3. "Comprehensive vs. specialized education: what determines better results in sports activities?" (Assoc. Prof. Dr. N. Žilinskienė, Vytautas Magnus University)
4. “Feedback in the interaction between a coach and an athlete” (Lithuanian Olympian T. Kaukėnas, researcher at Vytautas Magnus University).
The role of self-regulation in the development of athletes' mastery was discussed.
The organizers were pleased with the considerable number of the participants and their liveliness, and invited them to future LOA seminars.
