Online seminar for teachers and coaches
On December 17th Lithuanian Olympic Academy alongside their social partners Vilnius University of Applied Sciences, organized an online seminar for teachers and coaches "Development of social skills ". It was the last event of the year, and probably the most productive one. All the participants enjoyed the lecturers' experience and all new and useful information.
Inga Bertašienė - the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Pedagogy at Vilnius University of Applied Sciences gave the introduction speech and was glad that higher education institutions joined LOA in organizing the seminar which is really important for educators of children. First presentation "Physical activity for sustainable education and development" was presented by Vilnius University professor Dr. Stanislavas Sabaliauskas, who talked about the goals of sustainable education and the concept of sustainable teaching. He emphasized the importance of physical activity for brain health and the ecology of learning, as well as the development of skills needed for life in changing contexts. Speaking about the diversity of education, the lecturer emphasized the autopoietic perspective of cognition and raised the question of whether we create our own worlds.
Dr. Margarita Jurevičienė - a professor at Šiauliai University, presented "Aspects of physical education in children with autism spectrum disorder". She talked about children with autism, explained how to recognize them, how to work with them, emphasized that autism is not a disease but a disorder. Dr. Jurevičienė shared her experience of working with these special children and gave advice and ideas to teachers and coaches.
Miglė Motiejūnė, a psychologist and a professor at Vilnius University of Applied Sciences, presented "Development of social skills ", where she sought discussion, so involved all participants in the workshop, interacted with them about feelings and emotions. The lecturer emphasized how to recognize emotions and manage them, how to calm down and help to calm down others. She also spoke about behavior and it's rules in social life.
LOA program manager for Olympic education and moderator of the seminar - Ramūnė Motiejūnaitė briefly summarized the reports and thanked the participants. After that, the director of LOA - Enriketa Prunskienė summarized all the seminars organized by LOA this year. She was pleased that every year the circle of educators interested in Olympic values is growing and educators want new knowledge, want to learn and improve.
